So you may already know that to turn off a hot item, you need to go to the hot items tab of the store editor, but how do you turn on a hot item? It is pretty easy, but you need to work from the Admin and not the store editor.
How do I add a hot item to my store?
Assuming you are already logged in:
- Using the quick search, category or supplier list, or searching through the list of all the products in the database, find the product you want to add to your hot items.
- When you’ve found the product, you should be on the product information screen. There should be pictures of the product, prices, a list of the categories it is in et cetera. If you see this information you are on the right page. At the top of this page, there is a list of options
‘Product’, 'Logo’, ‘Supplier’ , ‘Store Status’. Click ‘Store Status’. - On the Store Status page there is a list of your stores, on the left. On the right is a series of pairs, one for each store. Each pair consists of “Hot Items” (or whatever you chose to call that section) and the category(s) the product is in, accompanied by “on” ,“off” toggles.
- Find the store you want to have this item turned on in, toggle the on/off switches in the category or the hot item or however you see fit.
- At the bottom right there is an icon of a floppy disk. That is the save button. Save your changes
What are the Hot Items? I have a category named Super Awesome Swag? What?
A little explanation of the hot items category. First, it isn't really a category, more of an aggregate, a way for you to group stock products into one category without making all of those products custom. It was designed so that you can feature items and that is why, by default, it appears at the top of the list of categories.
We don't want every user in the world to have a featured items category titled 'Hot Items'. That is too boring; it doesn't allow you to be original at all. That is why on the Info tab of the Store Editor, you can name the Hot Items category anything you like. We still need a common word for what we are talking about so that we can get along, which is why we call them 'Hot Items' when giving general instructions.
